The time is 1956 after the Melbourne Olympics. Lina discovers some of the Hungarian athletes are hiding in Melbourne rather than returning to their homeland where there is fighting. Inspired by these stories of persecution, Lina writes about her father who fled Italy because of political persecution. Her teacher secretly sends it to the Age newspaper. When Lina and her father are pleasantly surprised, Lina feels proud of her family heritage.
