Annotation

This is the story of a beautiful black swan that had once been caged, abandoned, freed and then welcomed by villagers where she was valued and listened to. The villagers are threatened by a volcano and are rescued by the swan that takes them to a new site where life continues and flourishes. The striking black and white drawings also feature designs that draw on the author’s African upbringing. Part fairy tale, part traditional story the book is about kindness and community.
