Brothers Sam and George are 13 and 11 years of age. They live at Brumby Plains, a buffalo station in Australia’s Northern Territory. They discover a small child, who is the only survivor of a shipwreck. The child is also an illegal immigrant by Australian Government regulations, and their Uncle Mungo has strong views about refugees. The boys hide the child while they work out what to do as they battle racism and the Australian Government’s policy on putting immigrants in detention centres.
