Last Train West
Hodder & Stoughton
The author was a young girl in Silesia in the outbreak of World War II. She remembers clearly the last summer of 1944 when the war finally came to her village and when she and the villagers had to evacuate on the last train west. The stories began as bedtime stories for her children who wanted to know what had happened to her during the war.
