This #ownvoices anthology, edited by Rebecca Lim and Ambelin Kwaymullina, represents 18 creators, both established and emerging writers who offer their ‘own voice’ through their memories, poetry and short fiction. The collection features writers who are First Nations, People of Colour, LGBTIQA+, those living with disability, migrant experiences and cultural backgrounds including Chinese-Australian, Muslim, Burmese, Canadian and others. Each author explores life from their own unique perspective using a range of writing styles such as short fiction, memoir and poetry. Some stories cover difficult and controversial topics but important for mature readers. Topics include racism, homophobia, bullying, death, mental health and others.
