Annotation
Luk and his grandmother drag timber from the forest with the help of elephants. Unfortunately, their beloved baby elephant steps on a land mine. He recovers through community support, prayers and cultural traditions from the monks and from Luk. Young Luk too has lost a leg through land mines. In this picture book, violence is treated gently to enhance children’s understanding of war’s consequences.
