Annotation
Suri and other children live inside a walled city, perhaps as protection against war outside. Taller than the others and friendless because of this difference, Suri peers over the wall and shares the initial beauty of the world outside. When war appears to destroy this city, Suri reveals only peaceful images to the children. This picture book allegory is open-ended and offers multiple interpretations.
