When the town and its library is destroyed by the enemy, the family leaves. Peter’s father treasures the library book he had at home, and his dying wish is that Peter must protect this book. When Peter must flee he buries the book under a tree, returning many years later to return the book to a rebuilt library in his old town. Collage artwork in this picture book uses text from Gleitzman’s 'Felix and Zelda' series plus ephemeral objects which can be seen across the landscape, thus capturing the flight of refugees.
