CBCA Awards 2019

CBCA 2019 Book of the Year Awards

The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) is a not for profit, volunteer run organisation.  It aims to engage the community with literature for young Australians. The CBCA presents annual awards to books of literary merit, for outstanding contribution to Australian children’s literature.

Each year, schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books, and Australian authors and illustrators. Teachers and librarians conduct activities relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading.

Notables: Published on the CBCA website on Tuesday, 26 February at 7pm AEST

Short List: Announced at noon AEST on Tuesday, 26 March

Winner and Honour Books: Announced at noon AEST on Friday, 16 August

The National Centre for Australian Children’s Literature holds the original artwork created for the CBCA’s annual Children’s Book Week from 1984. This collection includes original artwork for posters, banners, bookmarks, balloons, book bags and other merchandise.
