Leigh Hobbs talk : An evening with Old Tom and Mr Chicken

Leigh Hobbs has created some of the most memorable characters in children’s books. Who doesn’t love the incorrigible Old Tom, Fiona the Pig and the much travelled Mr Chicken? Join Ruth as she takes you up close to the many items created by this award winning author/illustrator that are held by NCACL. These include some original artwork of Old Tom and of Mr Chicken. You will gain insights into the creative processes Leigh Hobbs uses that give us these much loved books.

Leigh was appointed Australian Children’s Laureate in 2016. The theme for his two-year term was ‘to champion creative opportunities for children, and to highlight the essential role libraries play in nurturing our creative lives’.

Max Brown will also show how NCACL cares for these treasures so future generations can appreciate them.
