This is a board book for the youngest readers. It foregrounds a number of iconic Australian animals such as the kangaroo, the emu and the frill-necked lizard. The book is full of humour which will appeal to the very young as the cheeky animals play tricks on the boy going out for a walk. The rhyming couplets which are used to construct the narrative give added appeal for this age group as do the bold illustrations. There is warmth and comfort at the end when the boy, after his adventures with the animals, is depicted as peacefully sleeping with his dingo.

The author, who is also the illustrator, is a descendant of the Yorta Yorta people from Victoria.
