Annotation
Cyclone Thelma is only predicted to be a Category One, but Danny’s Gran has lived through cyclones before and shows him how to be prepared. The family also extends a helping hand to their neighbours.
The story is told over six chapters, with selected words highlighted in a larger grey font which helps quite young readers connect more with the story. 'Cyclone Fever' is one of the ‘Mates’ series. Each title in the series presents a particularly Australian story and this one is about preparations for a cyclone by an Indigenous family living in North-Western Australia.
Sally Morgan is a descendant from the Palku people of the Pilbara and Beth Norling is a well-known children’s book illustrator. Her colourful cartoon-style illustrations are on every page in this title in the ‘Mates’ series.
