Yvonne and the children are going to hunt for kalta, lizards, in the bush. They follow tracks until they find them and catch a few to cook. After preparing the lizards they cook them in the fire, and enjoy them together.
This narrative non-fiction book is illustrated using colourful photographs of the outing showing the hunting, locating and cooking of the lizards. Framing these photographs is a border of the lizard tracks and coloured pages with prints of the lizard. There is a very happy group of children enjoying the food at the end. The book begins with a map of the area and the verbal text integrates Pitjantjatjara words throughout. At the back of the book is a word list and a pronunciation guide for these words. There is also an explanation of the life cycle of the kalta.
