Jingalu’s brightly coloured artwork entices as readers look for and count coral clouds, pink snakes, lime birds, purple frogs and other vivid numbered groups of creatures. The nine orange owls are amazing. Beyond counting the book provides an opportunity to talk about the various animals as well as their colours—are possums really yellow?
‘I Can Count’ with its simple rhyming text and quirky vibrant illustrations demonstrates that learning and sharing can be fun for all involved.
