The Indigenous culture of the clans of the Kakadu region, collectively called the Gaagudju, is explored in excellent photographic images and text throughout this book. The author and photographer spent time with and learned from the people of Kakadu and the book has the approval of the communities concerned.
Aspects of the environment, the flora and fauna, the cultural traditions such as art and legends and the intimate knowledge of the six seasons of the year are all shown. Several elders and families are shown undertaking various activities such as spearing fish, bark painting and traditionally burning the land.
