This bilingual board book was produced by the Walpiri elders of the Ti Tree (Anmatjere) community for young babies and their families.
The book opens with the baby able to see its own reflection then it follows the first year of the baby’s life. A new born baby, in the coolamon, on the lap, baby talking, crawling, learning to walk, speaking properly and 'now grown big… he’s gone!’ A fun book to share with children particularly siblings of a newborn in a ‘do you remember when’ approach.
The simple colourful illustrations are accompanied by text in the Warlpiri language. On the last page an English translation of the text is given. The book includes a CD of the book being read in Walpiri by various members of the community.
Anmatjere is the name given to Ti Tree town and its surrounding communities and smaller outstations. Anmatjere is located 194km north of Alice Springs by road travelling on the Stuart Highway.
