This is the first in a series of picture books about a small migratory bird born with a crooked wing who is struggling to learn to fly. Through perseverance and with the encouragement of her family, Nali practices every day, starting with brief flutters to the day when her great, great grandmother declares that she is ready for her most challenging adventure – to fly around the world.

This charming tale about resilience and determination features appealing digitally rendered illustrations in a limited colour palette. Musician Dan Sultan, descended from the Arrernte and Gurindji people Yuendumu (300 kilometres north-west of Alice Springs) in the Tanami Desert, has recorded an award-winning children’s music album featuring Nali and her adventures.
