Annotation
Nanna is looking after her twin granddaughters, five-year-olds Jannie and Amy. There is a big cyclone outside, and the girls are scared, but Nanna knows just what to do. They hide in the bathtub under towels and wait for the storm to pass. The next morning when they wake up, the bathtub is far away in a field of sunflowers! Or is it?
In this gentle story Nanna's game, once enjoyed by her own daughter, is slowly revealed. It is now enjoyed just as much by her granddaughters. The special relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is touchingly portrayed in this book.
The illustrations are done in acrylic on paper, and take up one full page of the double page spreads, with the text on the opposite page. This book would be suitable for newly independent readers.
Vicki Griffin is a descendent of the Darawal people from the South Coast of New South Wales. Vicky Duncan is an Aboriginal artist who grew up in Kamilaroi country near Inverell, northern New South Wales.
