Artist and writer, C. Dan Purches, whose cultural group name is Naiura, learned his art through his mother. His maternal grandfather was a member of the Burramadagal clan of the Dharrug tribe. In this first collection, he gathers together Dreaming stories told to him by his grandmother and accompanies each one with an illustration executed in the dot painting tradition. Each double page spread contains a full page of text on one side and a full-page painting on the other. An opening page gives an explanation of Dreaming symbols used in the artwork with an explanatory table showing what they are.
The title of each story is in colourful lettering and the initial letter of the opening paragraph is illustrated with a dot background, which gives an effect similar to illuminated letters in medieval manuscripts. The text contains some words and names in the original language but there is no supplementary information about this particular Aboriginal People or the author.
