Petros is seven-years-old when he comes to Australia from Greece. He is very homesick, missing his pet donkey, Annoula, and hating everything. His cousin, Taki, helps him feel happy until Taki is no longer around. Then Petros must find courage and strength to make friends. He finds a friend in Dick, but it is a tiny puppy that really makes him feel at home.
