Annotation
Rainbow coloured endpapers of ‘Our Beautiful World’ invite readers to join families and different cultures around the world as they enjoy life in various parts of the world. Each double page spread features iconic landscape images with children and families. Families are engaged in activities particular to the region. These regions include Australia’s Uluru, Chile’s purple grape vineyards, China’s green bamboo forests, England’s grey pebble beaches, Italy’s yellow sunflowers fields, Canada’s wintry snowy landscapes, Japan’s pink cherry blossom trees, Fijian beaches, Sri Lankan tea leaves drying in the sun, Moroccan sand dunes, and the South African landscape with its setting sun. The final scene shows night descending as families and their animals enjoy the evening together.
Throughout each country’s double page visa culturally diverse people are portrayed enjoying the exploration of both the countryside and the company of others. There is much to discuss in ‘Our Beautiful World’ as each setting features family activities relating to the specific locale.
