Asiya loves visiting Nanu’s house which is filled with treasures, the best treasure being the katha chest. Katha quilts are made of old saris and are very colourful and soft. Each quilt tells a story and Asiya’s imagination runs riot as she spreads out the special quilts. The richly coloured illustrations show Asiya spreading out the quilts whilst other pages show displayed quilts telling the stories of her family’s life. All the quilts are brought out of the chest when the family comes together to drink tea, tell stories and remember Nanu. Included are the author’s and Illustrator’s notes with more information about the katha quilts from Bangladesh and the important part they played in the life of the author and illustrator.
