Juan Castillo and his son, Hector, have immigrated from Nicaragua and now live in inner-Sydney. Juan feuds with a Russian family upstairs. Hector is a pacifist, creative and practical, who struggles to understand his father’s anger. The novel explores conflict between father and son, between races and cultural expectations.
