Young Tran is waiting with his Grandma for his mother to return from Vietnam with his little cousin. Meanwhile, his Grandma shares with Tran the many drawers of a ‘wishing cupboard’ containing objects that recall memories of family and events. Together the share the imaginative objects, each object having its own family story. Tran is invited to put an object in the wishing cupboard. The final illustration in this picture book reveals that special wishes come true.
