Eve thinks that living in the middle of nowhere is better than living anywhere else. She lives at a petrol station with her parents and various animals. She’s not lonely because a bus stops by twice a day bringing a diverse group of people from all over the world as well as Australian truck drivers and caravaners who drive through. Even when there is no one else around Eve enjoys exploring the wide open spaces. One thing does make Eve sad, her Nan won’t visit because ‘She thinks it’s the back of beyond.’ Eve writes to her Nan and finally her Nan appears on the bus. Eve loves sharing her life with her Nan, showing her the people she meets on their travels or who live locally. Eve is sad when Nan returns home but knows her Nan will return. A beautiful picture book that shows that even in the middle of nowhere there is still a lot to see and enjoy including people from around the world as well as Australia’s First People.
