Graphic novels bibliography

The NCACL Graphic Novels bibliography lists 100+ books by Australian authors and illustrators. The collection contains fiction and nonfiction titles encompassing a large range of genres including history, superheroes, fantasy, humour, children’s stories in picture book format, a biography and more.

Many of the books are illustrated in colour but a few are printed black and white, giving a different feel to the story. The formats are of differing sizes and designs. Graphic novels can teach about social skills, emotional intelligence and empathy.

This NCACL graphic novels bibliography is an interesting start to a collection of literature that is gaining popularity with its ability to attract and motivate children to read through the use of visual stimuli, something that we are constantly surrounded by today. We hope this bibliography will be a great place for parents and teachers to go to for suggestions on graphic novels to inspire and encourage children to pick up a different form of book.

The books listed in this bibliography are available for reference at the National Centre for Australian Children’s Literature Inc, based at the University of Canberra Library, Canberra during our opening hours. Book titles with an asterisk are not in the NCACL collection.  These titles will be sought out through donations.

We will add to this bibliography as we receive future donations of more graphic novels. We would be pleased to hear from you if you know of others that should be added. Contact us with the details at ncacl@canberra.edu.au
