Alison Lester AM was born in Foster, Victoria. She has always had a love of the sea and the farming life. This love is shown through her delightful artwork and many of the books that she has written.
Alison wrote her first book, Clive Eats Alligators in 1985. This book received a Commendation in the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Picture Book of the Year category. Alison went to write a series around seven much loved characters: Clive, Ernie, Rosie, Tessa, Celeste and Frank. She has received many awards for her writing and illustrations. In 2011 Alison Lester was the Australian Children’s Laureate.
